son in law grows chillies in his office window so heres some tips from a book called'self sufficiency in a flat'
peppers are of tropical origin so can be planted any time in doors
sow in pots and place in airing cupboard or above radiator
compost must be well moist before sowing seeds thinly on top,no need to cover them with soil, then gently firming soil
cover the pots with plastic bag to keep in heat
temp needs to be not less than 65f/18c must be maintained untill the seedlings appear and soil must not be allowed to dry out
transfer to 5" pots, one to a pot and put on sunniest ,warmist window, must not drop below 60f/15c
stand the pots in shallow containers of water
u can sow the seeds from shop peppers etc,,red ones are the ones son in law has found that work, let the pepper/chilli get really ripe and flesh wrinkle before cutting and dry seeds on paper towel before sowing.
