I'd like to teach the world to sing ny The New Seekers, 18 January 1972, I didn't need to check that I have a mate who you can give any date to and he can tell you the top 40 on that date along with loads of other facts, like how many 4 inch sausages would you need to go around the equator.
He's also had his name in the acknowledgements in Guinness Book of Hit Records for spotting 14 mistakes.
Just for interest he can also draw a 9 by 9 grid totalling 81 squares then you can write a different 9 digit number in all the squares, then pass him the grid leave him for about 5 minutes, take the sheet back ask him any number square and he will tell you the 9 digit number in that square.
He reckons it's not a photographic memory but remembering by association. Needless to say he doesn't enter any local pub quizzes as the landlords don't like it as nobody enters if he's in.

yes association,
my mate was into that too,
he could do 3 packs of playing cards, shuffled randomly, & recall the entire order
its like writing a story in your head or something, every number becomes a word, so each line is a sentence,
then youve only got to remember 9 sentences of words, which is a dam lot easier
